Any public video with captions works — a lecture recording, a tutorial, a conference talk, a two-hour podcast. Standard youtube.com links, youtu.be short links, and /shorts links are all accepted. You can also paste the bare video ID.
02Deckio reads the whole transcript
The full transcript is pulled in one go, including timings where YouTube provides them. Nothing is sampled or skipped, so a point made 90 minutes into a lecture is treated the same as one made in the first minute.

Why summarize a lecture instead of rewatching it
Rewatching is the most expensive way to revise. A 90-minute recorded lecture costs you 90 minutes every time you go back to it, and playback at 2x still leaves you passively listening — which is close to the least effective thing you can do with study time.
A summary changes the economics. Reading the key points from that same lecture takes three minutes, and because the points are written as specific claims rather than topic labels, you can immediately tell which ones you already know and which you do not. How accurate is the summary?
The summary is built strictly from the video's own transcript, and the model is instructed not to add outside facts. Where auto-generated captions garble a technical term, obvious mis-transcriptions are repaired. Timestamps come from the caption timings rather than being guessed.
Is it free?
Your first video is free with no account. After that you need a free Deckio account, which takes about ten seconds and does not need a card. Signed-in users get 25 videos a day at no cost.
Which videos work?
Any public YouTube video that has captions — either the creator's own subtitles or YouTube's auto-generated ones. That covers the overwhelming majority of lectures, tutorials, talks, and podcasts. Videos with captions disabled, and private or age-restricted videos, cannot be read.
Is there a length limit?
No. Three-hour lectures and full podcast episodes work. Longer videos take longer to process, since the whole transcript has to be read before anything is written.
Does it work for videos that are not in English?
Yes. Transcripts are pulled in whatever language the captions are in, and the summary is written in that same language.
Do you store the videos I paste?
No. The transcript is fetched, used to build your output, and returned to your browser. Deckio does not keep a copy of the video or the transcript unless you choose to save the result as study material in your account.
